I bought this model for several reasons.
1. To replace HP forever, I've been held hostage far too long. I've had nothing but problems with my 8710 and they didn't start until the day after HP said they no longer will offer support for that model. Convenient right?
2. To avoid HP demanding we use expensive ink and bricking our ability to use non OEM ink cartridges, making ink virtually unaffordable.
This Epson did most all of the things our previous HP did. I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg so I bought the refurbished. I noticed right out of the box it was much lighter weight, smaller than our previous all-in-one. The print tray felt a little flimsy, and the top feeder was also light weight flimsy plastic feel. It is tall and looks well designed. Everything looked absolutely brand new and operated brand new. Ink was new, printer was taped like a new printer and packaging all new. If I didn't know it was a renewed, I'd think it was new.
The one thing I will miss is a touch screen, but I'm getting used to the one on this Epson, but there is a learning curve and I'm not fully happy with the screen, oh well. You can do everything online as well if you want to change settings. This screen is not a deal breaker or a star changer.
The setup includes a CD (I did not use this) or you can download straight from Epson (what I did.) There is also an install manual in the box which I appreciated. The online download got me the latest software and drivers. It took a little longer to set up the printer on all of my computers/devices than I had hoped but they all worked perfectly, even my phone. It connected to WiFi as expected. The longest part of the process of setting the alignment, but it was very easy. Five test pages to insure proper alignment. The alignment took about 10 minutes after about 5 minutes of the ink filling. Then we printed a test. Print quality is excellent. Sharp, vibrant and professional prints.
I have it connected to a desktop, an Android tablet and phone and an HP laptop. I love the fact I can do remote printing, this will help in some instances. It didn't print as fast as my old printer but I didn't expect it would. It doesn't print slow though.
Filling the ink tanks was simple and failproof. I'm so thankful to have this option now for ink. I'll not have to beg people not to print so much now! Oh the savings!
It scanned from the printer to the computer and from the app on the computer requesting the scanner to scan. Top feed worked well for multiple pages and we also scanned on the flatbed which worked. It seems that the scanner software was much better than HP's. The automatic document feeder (ADF) is working as it should.
I noticed you can configure the printer online too. I didn't bother with that option and won't unless there is some issue I can't figure out.
The double side printing capability is handy. Inkjet Photo Paper both matte and glossy look great. Cardstock works just fine as well.
It prints quiet, so in the other room, it is hard to detect if my print job is going through. I'm sure there may be a quiet mode but if there is, it doesn't need it.
It has an email to print function which I didn't test yet, but I'm certain that works well too.
I'm saying goodbye to my HP and I'm pleased with this purchase so far. If anything happens I'll update this review but for now, the little annoyances are little and the Ink Tank for me is the prize of all prizes!

I recently purchased the Epson EcoTank 3850, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. From the moment it arrived, this printer has exceeded my expectations in every way.
First off, let's talk about shipping. I was pleasantly surprised to receive the printer two days earlier than expected. Despite the absence of original packing, the printer arrived in pristine condition, thanks to the environmentally friendly packing material used in the box.
Setting up the printer was a breeze, and I was particularly impressed by the seamless network connection process. Following the instructions on my phone, I had the printer connected to my network in no time.
Exploring the features of the Epson software was a joy, and I was especially delighted by the scanning capabilities. Almost everything works as expected. However, I did encounter some connection errors when attempting to use the "Scan to Computer" function manually. I believe it has something to do with my computer's Firewall settings.
One of the coolest features of the EcoTank 3850 is its email printing functionality. Epson provides the printer with its own email address, allowing anyone with that email to send documents directly to the printer for instant printing. This feature is a game-changer and has completely replaced the need for a fax machine in my workflow.
Last but certainly not least, the refillable ink tank system is a game-changer. Say goodbye to overpriced ink cartridges! With the EcoTank 3850, I can enjoy significant cost savings over time and reduce waste by refilling only the ink colors I need.
In conclusion, the Epson EcoTank 3850 is a true powerhouse in printing efficiency. With its intuitive setup, impressive features, and cost-effective printing solution, it's a must-have for anyone seeking a reliable and eco-friendly printer. I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new printer.

Title: The Epson EcoTank ET-3850: A Game-Changer for Home Offices
I recently added the Epson EcoTank ET-3850 to my home office setup, and I must say it has been a game-changer in every sense. This printer is the epitome of convenience, cost-effectiveness, and functionality, making it the perfect addition for anyone in need of a reliable and efficient home office companion.
First and foremost, the cartridge-free Supertank system is a revolutionary feature. Say goodbye to the hassle and expense of constantly replacing ink cartridges. The large ink reservoirs of the ET-3850 hold an impressive amount of ink, and refilling them is an absolute breeze. This not only saves a significant amount of money in the long run but also eliminates the frustration of running out of ink when you need it the most.
The wireless connectivity of the ET-3850 is another highlight. Setting up the printer on my home network was quick and effortless. I can print from any device, be it my laptop, smartphone, or tablet, without the need for cumbersome cables. Additionally, the Ethernet port provides a stable and reliable connection for those who prefer wired setups.
The all-in-one functionality of this printer is a true multitasker's dream. The built-in scanner and copier have been incredibly handy for digitizing important documents and creating duplicates when needed. The automatic document feeder (ADF) is a huge time-saver for scanning or copying multiple pages at once, especially for those dealing with paperwork regularly.
In terms of print quality, the ET-3850 consistently delivers sharp, vibrant, and professional-looking documents and images. Whether I'm printing reports, presentations, or family photos, I can rely on this printer to produce exceptional results every time. The color accuracy and detail are particularly impressive.
Furthermore, the EcoTank system is eco-friendly, reducing the environmental impact of printing. It generates less waste by eliminating the need for disposable cartridges and promotes responsible ink consumption. Epson's commitment to sustainability is evident in this printer, and it aligns perfectly with the eco-conscious mindset of many modern consumers.
The sleek and compact design of the ET-3850 complements any home office setup. Its white finish gives it a clean and modern appearance, and it doesn't take up too much space, making it suitable for smaller workspaces.
In conclusion, the Epson EcoTank ET-3850 is, without a doubt, the perfect printer for a home office. It combines cost-saving efficiency, wireless convenience, top-notch print quality, and eco-friendliness in one impressive package. Whether you're a remote worker, a small business owner, or a student, this printer will make your daily tasks easier and more efficient. I can't recommend the Epson EcoTank ET-3850 enough for anyone seeking a top-tier home office printer. It's a true game-changer.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far amazing printer

This printer is amazing at printing both regular documents and pictures on plain paper. I am actually amazed at how sharp the colors are and how clear the text looks. This printer is great for the home or for printing small print jobs such as printing a packet with pictures for a classroom. As of now I am happy with the printer and will definitely update if there are any issues with the product. I haven't tried the scanner that is on top, but so far the rest of the printer seems to work well. The constant connection with the WiFi, the clear print, and the ease to print about 20 pages in color in about 8 minutes was noteworthy. My old printer took longer and did not have the same print quality.
03/12/2024 Update:
The printer still works very well. However, like other reviews mentioned the ADF does not scan well and for some reason the papers jam when doing more then one paper at a time. I am not taking off a star for that as I don't usually have to scan so many documents anyway, but it was a little of a let down.
The printer still works as expected as all my sheets are coming out crisp and clear. The print speed works for me as I do other things while the printer does it's job. However, this printer is not meant for those that have to print a lot of pages in a hurry. Instead, it works for the regular home use or for those that have the time to wait for the print outs. Since I am a classroom teacher and I print my things in advance, it is not a big deal to wait as there is always other things to do. Personally, compared to other inkjets I think this is the best option. If you need a fast printer then you need a Lazer printer. Hope this extra information helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow - super impressed

After 5 years, my HP home printer died. It had a good run, so I tried the similar level of HP. What a piece of junk that was! The HP didn’t work right from the get go and all the parts were so cheaply made. I returned that and decided to spend a little more to get the Epson ET-3850 after reading the reviews. I liked the idea of not having to pay a gazillion dollars every time you turn around on ink. The HP I had purchased because I liked the instant ink program I was on. It had its pros/cons..
Yes, I paid more for this printer, (I think it was $399) but it has a lot of ink that will last me for a while vs. paying a monthly instant ink membership of 5.99 - 9.99 a month.
The Et-3850 was SOOOOO easy to set up. Super intuitive app that worked so easily with the printer. I set it up using my tablet and eventually added the printer to my husband’s phone, his tablet, and my phone. All easy peasy.
I’m very impressed with the quality of the printer itself. The hardware of it seems well made; far better than the junk I got with the HP. The HP drawers were so rickety and always said they were open… (It was brand new and no, it wasn’t opened). I love the smaller footprint of it so it doesn’t take up valuable desk space. It allows me space to use my label printer too.
I wanted one with the top multiple paper feeder; so again the ET-3850 fit the bill. I use that rarely to scan multiple pages (perhaps to a legal or financial professional) so I did still want that vs. raising and lowering the platten multiple times to copy each page.
So far, I’m really impressed. I’m hoping this printer serves me well for at least another five years. I DO highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refurbished - Good Value

Thanks to previous reviews that recommended a refurbished model. Amazon's return policy removed a lot of the risk.
Ours arrived the next day and looked brand-new; it's refurbished by Epson. Setting it up was a hassle. It initially wouldn't communicate with our WIFI but with time and patience, it finally did.
Has a smaller footprint than our old HP and the ink bottle system is so much better. The control panel has no touch-screen capability and everything needs to be entered in the keypad, including confirmation for "Off."
It's not receiving heavy use right now, but will update with any quality issues if they occur.

GREAT PRINTER
Finally, a color solution that doesn't involve ridiculous amounts of money spent on multiple cartridges.
We have printed a lot of stuff in color, and we still aren't even one quarter of the way through the ink that came with it.
We have no need for the automatic paper feed so I can't speak to that.
The LCD interface is also refreshingly logical, even though we haven't had to use it much.
We printed one-sided, two sided, black and white in color. Ours works exactly as we want a piece of technology to work.
Awesome, we got this at a refurbished model, for about half price.
VERY VERY SATISFIED WITH THIS PRINTER!!

So far I haven't gotten any problems. I love this printer for my small sticker business. I tried printing using a printable heat transfer paper and paper got stuck, but it's ok because I just wanted to test with other paper medias.

We replaced an HP printer with this Epson printer/scanner. We never really liked our old HP printer. It was "glitchy" and sometimes did what we wanted/needed and then again sometimes not. We shopped around and decided on this Epson. It has performed great for us. We've had no problems with paper feeding and handling or print quality. We are not computer techies but the software/App that is associated with the printer is easy to use and works great for scanning and overall printer management. The only thing I must remind you is that this Epson is a printer and scanner only. Not a FAX.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prints well. Efficient guided setup. Ink lasts a long time.

I have owned printers in the series before. I decided that I would go for this as a refurb. I know that a risk, but it has paid off. The reason that I needed a new printer wasn't a problem with the previous printer (same brand). I dropped something on my last printer and damaged it.
What I liked best was the setup. I have an android phone, and the setup was “step by step”. I didn’t have to do much work to connect to Wi-Fi Etc. The screen on the printer is small, but readable. I won’t be using that screen much so it’s about right for my needs.
The printer went through a head alignments and other setup, which does take a few minutes, but printed correctly when finished, and has worked ever since.
What I really like about this series is the massive ink bottles, which can last for years (in a home office).
So:
If you are looking for something that can “print scan and copy” and doesn’t rob you blind on ink, then this may work fine for you.
I wouldn’t buy lower models in this series, which have a screen that is far too small.
Labels: best inexpensive printer , cheap all in one printers , cheap color printer , cheap home printer , cheapest ink tank printer , inexpensive printers , low price printer , printer low price
