We had an Epson that lasted eight years. So much printing that the print head actually wore out. We bought an HP Deskjet to replace it. Eleven months nightmare. Trashed the new HP this morning. This XP4200 setup was easy and connecting it to my Android took under three minutes. Easy instructions. Epson stuck with a good thing and it works. Very happy with Epson as usual.

Total time from box to printing was forty five minutes. That's excellent!

Note: I never use off brand cartridges. A few have posted about this printer using only Epson ink or requiring a Firmware update for off brand cartridges. I never used off brand with our old Epson and for eight years it had no issues other than in the last few months of that eight years the print head was worn out. It was very similar to this one and three Masters Degrees were earned by our children and that printer was a workhorse!!

I was able to get it set up quickly. I'm using this to print things at home from my phone and laptop. No connection issues. Prints are fast and clear. Order extra ink at the time of purchase because the initial cartridges are minimal to make sure things work. You'll want extra to have on hand. It states this in set up but doesn't really mention it anywhere else. I haven't had to switch mine out but I'm not printing a ton. It is NOT a quiet printer but it is fast. No issues so far.

I've had countless printers of many different brands. About seven years ago, I bought my first Epson. It had a major defect that prevented it being usable. Epson sent a replacement immediately, without my needing to return the defective one. I liked that. The replacement worked well until about a month ago, when it suffered a fatal (in my opinion) jamming problem. Of course, as fate would have it, replacement cartridges had just arrived. After a little research, I ordered an Epson XP-5200. It was easy to install, has more features than my old printer, and works great. To my eye, the required 222 print cartridges look like the 288 print cartridges I had ordered for my old printer. It would be nice if they worked in the new printer.

I am almost 70 years old so you can imagine the problems I have with technology. That in mind, I had this copier up in running in no time. I downloaded the app on my phone and the rest was just step by step instructions. I had a few misunderstandings on my part, but it was very forgiving and got the job done without my usual meltdown. I recommend this for seniors needing that occasional page printed out at home.

This printer fit well within the price range that I was looking for with the features that I needed. Set up was very easy. All of my devices are Apple, and there were no compatibility issues or problems printing from my iPad, phone or MacBook Pro. I like the individual ink cartridges, but they are aren’t carried by the local Walmart or Target stores. I’ve ordered replacement from the Epson web site, price was decent and delivery was very fast. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
