We have both. Buy the 4820 if the pricing is very close. It’s more robust, the larger screen is a great help although the small screen isn’t bad, there isn’t too much displayed on it and the 4820 is more legible and easier to work with. You can definitely sense the weight and build of the 4820 where it seems like a much better printer for higher volume, office, or home. The 3820 is a perfect printer for your home or smaller office, but side by side it’s worth the small difference in price to move up. Important to note that the document feed is NOT a duplex scanner/copier. This is a big let down. Otherwise the printer works EXCELLENT, fast first page, laser like quality, affordable ink, worked directly out of the box and setup could not be easier whether wired or wireless. Easy menus, easy to get it to do what you want, and a powerful software suite you can download. Never buying HP again.

This superb budget printer is an excellent alternative to HP Printers Ink Scam.
Easy to set up.

Downside: It comes with too much unnecessary software. I hope EPSON will soon develop a consolidated software to operate this beauty.

Had to replace a very old (ten year?) Epson Workforce printer. Pulled my hair out juggling all the obscured specs of all the brands, Brother, HP, Canon.

Read carefully: some of them will duplex print, but not duplex scan; some of them will duplex scan but not with a Mac; some of them will do all that but they are made to print 13 inch wide paper and if you just need a simple multifunction office unit for 8-1/2 X 11 inch paper you're getting a LARGE footprint and spending a lot of money you don't have to.

I had to create a spreadsheet to parse it all.

This one (WF-4830) does everything the other one did but faster and better. Wireless, copies, scans, prints, scans duplex, prints duplex, color and B&W.

Doesn't benefit from large ink tanks so that's still criminally expensive, but for my home office it's fine.

Cannot attest to tech support as I have had no issues with this printer. LOVE the touch screen which is easy to read and use! Prints nicely and top feeder which makes it convenient. SUPER easy to install and use, even from my android phone. Really was impressed that I can use it with Alexa. Nice printer and would recommend.

For a inkjet printer this is awesome. The photos are amazingly sharp and the speed is great. This is the best printer I have ever purchased. I am starting a business and will be purchasing another Epson. I was gonna return due to the fact I don't know how to update the firmware. I am so busy I just need to take the time and research. I use a MacBook Air so I had to really research to see which printer was compatible with my MacBook . There are not many but this is a printer that gets the job done. I love it and have not had any issues at all. I was kind of skeptical to purchase due to the negative reviews. I heard so many good things about Epson and I know a lot of small businesses use Epson. My main concern is the cost of the ink. I can see why it's costly and it is guaranteed so that makes it all worth it. This is the longes review I have written. I had to also take into consideration Epson is leading the pac in many areas. I know every products has it's issues but if you're looking for a great inkjet printer. Look no further this is the one. I had it hooked up and going in 10 minutes. It's prints very fast. I was pleasantly surprised.

I have to edit my review. There was no way for me to install the firmware. It also stated it would work with my Echo 5 it does not at all. I searched on YouTube nothing. I still keep my rating the same. I just was not able to change any settings at all for this amazing printer and for the purpose I was using it for I needed to adjust some things. I did send it back. I will spend a little more on another Epson printer and hopefully it is just a good as this one. It might be my MacBook that have limitations. I tried everything.

This is a fantastic printed and works well for large print jobs and small print jobs. If I can get it hooked up correctly to my wireless router than it’s got to be user friendly. Prints copies very quickly which is important to myself as I needed a printer for large jobs. Ink cartridges are easy to find and are very reasonable priced. Best printer I have ever purchased for the money!!! Thanks and good luck!!!
