The setup was easy. just follow the prompts and don't skip around. I didn't prefer setting it up with a phone but it worked. I have not had any connection issues with it other than a couple of times it has failed to "wake up" after long periods of non-use and it does not immediately print when I send a file, but simply pushing the "OK" button in the middle of the controls wakes it up and it proceeds to print right away. Regular documents print very quickly and the photos on glossy paper look amazing. The selectable automatic 2 sided printing works great and has saved me a lot of paper. I've had it for a few months now and printed quite a few papers and photos and the ink level has still not dropped at all. My old printer would have been halfway through a set of cartridges by now. I love this printer.

Although its not the best quality printer, I would rate it a mid range in quality printer. I still bought it because of all of the positive reviews and the fact that the ink lasts a long time. I was so tired of buying the ink cartridges. I will have to say so far I love the print quality. This printer prints very nicely. The color is great and it does exactly what I need it to do. It's also soooo easy to add the ink. It is a clean process, and it is cleverly designed so that the ink doesn't spill. Pretty cool actually. I use this copier to print, scan, and copy. It has served its purpose. The only thing I don't like about it is that the paper is fed in to the back and you have to look at the paper sticking up in the back on its tray. In addition, the tray that the paper comes out on is a little weirdly shaped to catch the papers as well. I would recommend this printer to others for sure. I just can't figure out how to use the print option from my phone, but that's something I'll keep trying to figure out.

For years, I have been using HP all-in-one printers with disposable cartridges. This one is incredible. I printed two double-sided, full-sized, color work and activity books (A4-sized pages) for my 8-year-old son, and the ink level is around 3/4. If you keep the heads clean, this printer will serve you well.

I read some reviews about the low quality of prints with this printer. Well, my experience was just the opposite. So, their experience does not represent the whole; they should be outliers. These people might need to learn more about the printer's preferences for the basic printing rules. Printers print according to what you feed them with. The higher your raw and paper quality, the better the print you'll get. And remember to check the preferences for better print quality as well.

One other complaint I read was about the wifi connection. It does not reflect the reality as well. The wifi card on the printer does not lose connection at all. The units these people have might be faulty. That does not mean these devices lose connection. And if you have a stable 2.4GHZ internet wifi router. This printer will keep its connectivity, unlike multiple HP products that I had previously. I had to turn wifi off and on every time I had to print something.

The best part is that even the whole set of inks (black and two colors) is cheaper than the entire set of HP cartridges(Black-color).

On the other hand, here are three things that are annoying about this printer:
1) the paper feed is from the top.
2) the LCD screen is too small.
3) generating a printing job outside the local network is crappy and glitchy. They need to fire the whole department of software developers in charge of this part of the software solutions. There is no excuse for an internationally sold product's software solution to be this glitchy.

The printer arrived in a renewed box, with all the proper tape on all of the pieces. Ink tanks were clean. I got this one because it has a one-year return, and it was 60 bucks cheaper. This is everything I have needed in a printer. I needed automatic 2 sided printing. Check. I needed good connectivity across multiple platforms ( windows 7, 11, xp, and linux, and Iphone, android.) Check. I wanted a permanent print head, but most of all, I wanted to be able to use refillable ink. Check. The bottles that come with it seem large, but so are the individual 4 tanks. I've had some printers that were 4 or 5 colors. Three has been easier, and the picture quality is just fine. When it comes time to refill the ink tanks, I'll simply pour my ink into these bottles, and refill. Screw the "genuine" epson ink. Do you really think that there is a difference? I don't . I have been drilling and refilling ink cartridges for 30 years, and have used the same ink in 3 different brands with no problem. I love that you can do that with this printer...even easier than buying special cartridges to fool the system, or bypassing it in hidden settings on the printer (by law they have to have a setting to shut off the proprietary ink cartridges. Set-up was pretty easy. I discarded the instructions. I had great first time luck filling the tanks, letting it charge the ink, and using the keypad on the front of the printer to connect it to my network first. Then, when I downloaded the software for my computer(s), The software found it easily. This way, was better than the way the software tells you to do it. Same with the phone app. Put the printer on your network first...then let everything find it. The epson app for my android is the first one that actually works with one click to print. Other reviewers have said that this thing paper jams a lot. So far, so good for me. I did have one jam so far. I use heavier weight paper, and I think one corner was bent as I was putting paper in it. This printer will hold a lot (150?) of paper. That's good, but if this thing starts jamming, it'll go back. I'll update if that happens

I got a renewed ET-2850 ($180). It comes with 4 bottles of ink that you need to add, and very simple instructions with an option to download an app to your phone and let the app guide you thru which I did. But it's basically (a) removing the sticky tape (b) add ink (c) wait about 10 minutes while it gets ready and (d) add to wifi. Adding ink is easy. Just open each bottle and insert into its named slot, and apparently they only fit into correct matching slot. Glug glug glug for 1 minute, then move onto next. Wifi setup was also easy with the app. It seemed to know which wifi was mine (presumably based on strength of signal), and after entering password, it was ready. Printing from mac was as easy as selecting new printer (which it found by itself). The only improvement I could suggest on the installation instructions is for adding paper. The instructions don't mention this at all. I guess it's obvious for most people, but after avoiding printers for a couple of years, I had to watch a youtube video to figure it out (hint - it goes in the back top, and you have to slide the black things apart until they are wide enough for the paper.) I didn't really give the eco stuff much thought when i bought the printer (i was more motivated by the good reviews), but the eco friendly packaging was impressive, and the printer is made from recycled plastic, and it feels good to know I won't be churning thru ink cartidges. Buying renewed also feels like being eco friendly. I do like the small LCD too. Originally I thought it might be too small to see, but it's actually quite readable and so much more helpful that printers with no LCD display.

I got this a while ago and I like to use something before I say what I think. This is well worth the price. It prints great and the ink last for ever. I got this for family photos and grand kids stuff but ended up using it for so much more. My hubby is Vet and gotten sick and we have had to print up so much for the Gov to get his medical taken care of, Well I have put it threw a lot of work printing and this Epson EcoTank ET-2850 has been the best thing ever. The first 2 months of his illness I printed up over 700 pages of medical records and such and not a bit of trouble from this printer. I love it and highly recomend it. I haven't gotten around to printing photos yet so I don't know how it dose there but for putting out the work load it will handle it just fine. I don't have to worry about Ink all the time I bought a spare Ink refill when I bougt this and I have only use the black and not all of it. I Love this Epson EcoTank ET-2850 and I tell anyone that I see looking at a them throw away printers in the stores all about my printer. Yes I am proud of it and love it.

Bought this to replace my old printer which my husband destroyed - the old printer used cartridges that were very expensive and didn't last long. Read the reviews for this and other eco printers and chose this one. I am very happy with it. It was set up and working in about 20 minutes - read the instructions first before you try and set it up! I got the app - and it walked you through the whole process and at times there is a wait for certain things to be set up - it will let you know when it's ready for the next step. Got it done the first try. Printer works so ez, even the scanner is the easiest I ever used. Wifi printing works ez with the phone and app. I did try to move it to a different location in the house just to try it, but it is my trouble spot with wifi and the printer was no different there either. Printed tons of stuff before getting more ink. Well worth it. The window on the front is ez to read - you use the key pad to navigate around. When refilling the tanks - you need to give it time to detect the ink levels and you also have to use the app to reset the ink levels to full after filling to restart printing. Just a little thing I noticed when using mine and refilling the first time. I found this very ez to work with and use and the savings alone are worth buying this type of printer!

Freedom from ink cartridges! Love this printer! Easy to monitor ink status with the ink well feature. Replacement bottles are cheap relative to what I’ve been paying for cartridges which were, by design, nearly empty when I installed them. I’ve never go back! Very decent print quality, no jams, no issues of any kind after several weeks of observation!
