5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! This printer has been VERY impressive thus far *UPDATE*

My old printer broke (sooner than I would have liked) so I did A LOT of research before deciding to buy this Epson EcoTank printer for home office use. This is my honest review of it this far and I will definitely update my review if I run into any issues.
So far, this printer has been pretty impressive (I've been using it for about a month). The price was pretty average for a printer... but I personally think all printers are overpriced so it was a bit more than I would have liked to spend. It is smaller and more lightweight than I was expecting which is a plus because it takes up less desk space than my previous HP printer.
It is very easy to set up, comes with step-by-step easy instructions and guided instructions through the app. It only took me about 10 minutes (Mostly just waiting for the printer to initialize on its own). It is very easy and surprisingly satisfying to fill the ink tank. I like the idea that this ink might last longer than traditional cartridges and won't have as much plastic waste that went along with my old HP Inkjet.
I have printed plain black and white documents as well as photos. I print all my photos at home, which is most of the printing that I do, so quality was important to me. The photos came out with pretty good quality! No ink smudges or off colors, colors are bright/vivid, and it is easy to modify what paper you're using with automatic prompts on the printer.
Now for the negatives and the reason I'm giving this 4 stars... app to printer connection issues. This was a big issue with my old printer as well. I'm pretty tech savvy and I just have no idea why this is still always an issue for me. There is an extra Epson app that you are supposed to download for printing. Sometimes it can find my printer, sometimes it can't. Sometimes it gives me printer errors or won't let me print documents. And now every time I go to print something it says the paper being used doesn't match the paper settings so I have to bypass that error message (even though it does match in settings and the app, and this happens for both regular paper and photo paper). I've turned everything off and back on again, but the issues with consistent connection and error messages are still an issue.
Usually with some fiddling around, I can get the documents/pictures to print but sometimes it feels like I'm jumping through unnecessary hoops. I'm still working out the kinks so if I find some magic solution I'll update my review. Considering this is an issue with most home printers I've used, it's not a deal breaker.
All in all, if you are looking for a new home printer, I would definitely recommend this one. The quality has been great for me and I am pleased with my purchase (so far).
Hope this helps!
*UPDATE*: I have now printed HUNDREDS of photos, they are all excellent quality, and my ink tanks are still mostly full. This is WAY better than my HP printer as far as ink longevity. Changing my review to 5 stars just based on how long this ink lasts. User interface is still a tad annoying but so worth it regardless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice replacement for a much more expensive printer, fax, scanner, copier

After one week with this printer, I am impressed. Easy five stars, except for one thing mentioned below.
Pros: * it is very quiet after I set it to quiet mode.
* the print and copy quality is great with clear, bright colors. Scanning comes out just as clear.
* it is not the fastest printer, but ok for my needs.
* the ECOTANKS ink chambers are easy to fill. Flip open the ECOTANK cover, tip the various color bottles upside down into receptacles for each color and let them run into the dispensers, one bottle at a time. When the color chamber is full, it stops filling up. PS. Have a sheet of paper towel handy because even one little drop of color could get on your hands and desk, and it’s messy. Did that, won’t repeat.
* it is much lighter than my old Epson 4750 series.
* my old Epson had automatic “print on both sides” when needed. This one does not. Instead it has a setting on the print page (see photo) for Manually Print on Both Sides” - and it works like this: turn the printed page over (like tip it on its head), place it in the paper feeder with the printed pages against the “clean” papers, i.e. the printed part facing the back of the printer. I find it very helpful to add page numbers to my printed documents to make sure I have them in proper order at the end of the printing.
Cons:
* the paper tray for the finished printed documents is VERY flimsy. Thank goodness I do not have cats or small kids around to accidentally break it.
* the flap at the end of that tray feels so unsecured that I placed two tiny dots of Loctitec Fun-Tak to “glue” it down. That way I can easily remove and reinstall the fun-Tac if I want to use that flap.
All in all, a nice printer. It is my second Epson printer. The 4750 lasted for 5+ years even after being dropped on concrete during a move.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works! Prints and scans well.

I was a long time customer of HP's program where they supply the ink for your printer when it runs low. That worked ok, I had a couple of printer failures along the way but the system worked until two weeks ago when HP's system refused to recognize their own printer after three years of use. Could not get it to reconnect and if you aren't connected you can't print with the chip enabled HP printer cartridges. So dumped it and thought I'd try the Epson 'fill and chill' world. Setup was pretty easy, everything got connected ok and so far the printing and scanning has gone well. I like the idea of ink tanks instead of cartridges, but will have to see how long it lasts. The touch screen is tiny, but it works. So far, so good, happy customer at the price paid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epson is a good home photo type printer and easy to maintain

So far so good. I use it mainly for my art work. That means that I don't use it daily and I have to run clean nozzles, etc. from time to time. Using it ever few days will help the nozzle from getting clogged from dried ink. Other than that, this is my second Epson and I like the tank design. No more cartridge, but remembering that ink will dry in nozzle, so using it steadily is probably the best. I would get it again.

Excellent cost effective printer, very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend. Set up was super simple and was done through their own app on my cell phone. Worked flawlessly unlike some of the other brands, highly recommend this unit and can see why it has so many great reviews. If you’re looking for an all in one printer for your home you need look no further, thank you Epson for making such a great printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Replaced my W4740 with this

This is a nice little printer for my contracting, the print quality is great and the ability to see the ink volume allows you to be proactive vs reactive when in need of a refill.
I replaced my W4740 because I got sick of the cartridge rip-off. The increasing cost of the cartridges caused me to try a 3rd party version and the machine didn't like them. It recognized the cartridge as full upon install, but the printing was horrid. So after dealing with that long enough and not wanting to pay top $$$ for ink that only lasts a short period, I pulled the trigger on this ET-2800 and I'm very happy with it. It's a tad smaller L & W and is half the height.
I am happy to recommend it if your looking to get away from $$$ cartridges and/or just want a new printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epson quality but proprietary refill bottles? - Nope!

It was between this and the HP refillable printer. I'm familiar with HP computers being filled with bloatware and being cheap in price/quality. All the while I've had my Epson WP wide format printer since 2011. Main problem with that was when I was trying to use off brand print cartridges over the last 2 or 3 years. I kept getting print cartridge mismatch errors that were fixed by resetting the print cartridges. I'm thinking it was their way to try and keep us to buying Epson brand refills. When I saw the complex bottle nozzles on the Epson ink bottles I was like "oh great, here we go again with the propriety stuff again!". Fortunately it looks like off brand ink bottles come with the same complex nozzles. If worse comes to worse, the nozzles on the Epson brand bottles are twist off so you can take off the cap to refill the ink the bottles before using the same bottles to refill the Epson Ecotank printer. The nozzle is a pretty good design that makes refilling a breeze.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tech Support Is a JOKE!

I set up the printer and went to register it. I entered the serial number printed out by the printer during setup and the registration form kept asking for a VALID serial number. I checked the serial number on the bottom of the printer, and it was the same one shown on the paper printed out. I gave up trying to register the printer.
I then went to update the firmware, and the Epson site found a later version. I went to install it, and was told that the firmware Epson found for my printer was not for my printer. So it would not update the firmware.
Today I tried asking for help on the Epson site. I filled out the form and when I went to submit it, I was told I had not provided a purchase date. I reviewed the page and THERE WAS NO PLACE TO ENTER THE PURCHASE DATE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior to HP

This Epson ET2800 is a dream, the print quality is crisp, connection to the wireless router consistent, and the ink refill system is going to save a lot of money. The HP printer I replaced had some issue with every use. HP ink cartridges dry out, wireless connection fails constantly, print quality is sub standard. The first thing I printed on the Epson was a 36 page woodworking plan. Wow, I was blown away by the ease of use of the Epson print app, where I could choose from many print options. The color document is crisp and precise. For what I have spent on HP ink cartridges, ruined paper, and wasted time using the HP, the Epson would have saved me money in just a year's time.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY, A GREAT PRINTER THAT WORKS
Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2024
Color: BlackStyle: ET-2800-BPattern Name: PrinterVerified Purchase
I had been fighting to get three HP printers to work. The 1st worked for six months or so and then it died. So, I bought another of the same printer. Worked for a few months and all of a sudden I am getting messages that my HP print cartridges weren't authorized to be used in my machine. Yes, I was using
T genuine new HP print cartridges, not to mention the excessively expensive cost for the cartridges. An XL size color and black cartridge combined cost nearly $80. I would like to total up just how much I spent on ink cartridges that I couldn't use! Finally, tried one more different HP printer and I could never get it to connect wirelessly. I updated my drivers and the printer just refused to connect to the internet. Enter the Epson ET-2800. I set up the machine by watching an excellent video on this printer and I was connected to the internet on the first try. Then, I also connected my phone to the printer on the 1st try! I was ecstatic I once again, had a working printer! One thing additionally that I love about this printer is the ink tank system. Super easy to load the ink and this ink system is MUCH, MUCH cheaper to operate. I'll never go back to expensive ink cartridges again! This printer is not cheap at $199.00, but I imagine when it comes to printers, you get what you pay for. For me, products must be reliable and intuitive to use. I can say without reservation that the Epson ET-2800 is the answer to fixing my printer issues and I can highly recommend it!
